The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is a saving scheme introduced under Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Act 1952 by the Government. The main purpose of the scheme is to provide financial stability to elderly people. In this scheme, an employee have to pay a sum of contribution and the same contribution paid by employer towards the EPF Scheme. On retirement, employee gets a lump sum amount paid by him and employer with the Interest on the both amount.

How can you check EPF account Balance?

There are four ways listed to check PF account Balance

  1. Using EPFO Portal

  2. Using UMANG App

  3. Through Sending a SMS

  4. Through giving a Missed Call

Using EPFO Portal

  1. Go to official website :- https://www.epfindia.gov.in
  2. Click on ‘For Employees’ under section ‘our services’.
  3. Now, find the ‘Member Passbook’ under ‘services’ section shown below.
  4. It will open the new page.
  5. Enter your UAN number and Password and also enter the Captcha code
  6. Then click on login button.
  7. Once done, your PF account passbook will appear. Now you can check your PF balance.

 

Using UMANG App

  1. Firstly, you have to download the app from the app store on your smartphone.
  2. Register to the app using your mobile number and login to it.
  3. Now, you have to find the EPFO in the section ‘All Services’ and Open it.
  4. Click on the ‘Employee Centric Services’.
  5. Then click on the ‘view passbook’.
  6. Now, you have to enter your UAN number and click on ‘Get OTP’
  7. An OTP will come on your mobile number.
  8. Just enter the OTP and click on Login.
  9. Your PF balance will show.

Through Sending a SMS

These Steps will help you to check your PF balance simply by sending a SMS. 

  1. Make sure to UAN is activated.
  2. From your registered mobile you have to send a SMS in format: EPFOHO<space>UAN number to the number ‘7738299899’.
  3. Immediately after sending the SMS, you will get a SMS from EPFO showing your PF balance.
  4. If you want the SMS in other Languages, you have to add first the letters of language to the SMS as shown:  EPFOHO<space>UAN number<space>first three letter of language.

Through giving a Missed Call

There is a another way to check your PF balance through just giving a Missed call. Give a Missed called from your registered mobile number to 011-22901406. The call will automatically disconnected after two rings. And you will receive a SMS showing your PF balance.
